Google Slides vs PowerPoint: Why Google slide is better option.

 PowerPoint has been the worldwide leading presentation software for over 30 years now. Compared to PowerPoint, Google Slides was introduced only a few years ago but have been steadily gaining speed until then.

In terms of affordability, Google slide is a pat of Google Docs and its completely free. PowerPoint is a part of  Microsoft office software package. In order to use it, a user needs license for MS office. That makes Google slide for popular among students or someone who wants to make a presentation without spending any money. 

Google slides does not require any software installation but a user must have a google email address in order to access to Google slide. The system is called SaaS - Software as a service, where the Google Slide software is hosted by Google in their cloud. PowerPoint, on the other hand requires software installation in the host devices. PowerPoint also offers a free online version of the software named PowerPoint Online. However, it lacks many of the advancements included in the desktop-based original product.

Google Slides was developed with a online performance in mind. The software is created in a way that, it runs smoothly over internet. A user can use any device to use Google slides, just need to login. On the other hand, online version of PowerPoint has fewer features and the desktop version is limited to one device only. An user needs to use his own device to use PowerPoint while travelling. That makes Google Slides more convenient.

Google Slides saves all data on Goole Drive storage which is cloud based. This means – no need to hit “Save” every 5-10 mins. All changes are automatically saved to the cloud as you create them. PowerPoint doesn’t offer an automatic savings unless you have the latest version of the software PowerPoint 2016 and you are an Office 365 subscriber. For old users and non-subscribers this is a hassle 

One of the best feature of Google slide is that a team can work on the same presentation at a time. and the slides are accessible to the team members at any given time. But for PowerPoint, Collaboration is not possible. 

In Conclusion, Both software programs offer unique advantages over the other. Google Slides is certainly user-friendly, multifunctional and allows a super easy collaboration with your team members. PowerPoint is well developed and advanced product of many years of development behind its back. But in modern era where everything is going cloud, users find Google Slides to be the best option for accessibility, affordability and team work.
